Michele Palazzi Wins the Series Category of #FotoRoomOPEN | JEST Edition

We are happy to announce that the founders of photography space JEST, who have joined us as jurors of our most recently closed #FotoRoomOPEN edition, have selected Italian photographer Michele Palazzi as the winner of the Series category. Congratulations, Michele! (By the way, we’re now accepting submissions for a new #FotoRoomOPEN call: the winner will get a 6-month professional mentorship by London photo agency Kiosk. Get the details and enter your work today).
Michele had already submitted Finisterrae last year for a previous #FotoRoomOPEN edition (he wasn’t selected as the winner then, but we featured his project on FotoRoom as one of our favorite entries—here’s the short interview we had with him about the work). This is to say that every #FotoRoomOPEN juror looks for different things, so we recommend you submit to every call! (Remember: the yearly fee for the FotoRoom membership gives you access to not just one #FotoRoomOPEN edition but all the six editions that open during the year).
As the Series winner, Michele will have Finisterrae exhibited in a solo show at JEST. Francesca Cirilli and Tommaso Parrillo, the founders of JEST, explain why they picked him: “We chose Michele for the poetic, delicate and intelligent way in which his series Finisterrae deals with a very current and problematic issue, and does so with the honesty and ethics typical of documentary photography while pushing its boundaries towards a more personal and evocative approach.” Francesca and Tommaso would also like to give a special mention to Roger Grasas, Cristiano Volk, Martina Zanin and Olukman Ayline. (We have also announced the winner in the Single Image category).
This wraps up #FotoRoomOPEN | JEST edition! Thank you so much Francesca and Tommaso for creating this beautiful opportunity, and congrats again to Michele for making it yours.
