‘Simple’ is the word used most frequently by Japanese photographer Osamu Yokonami throughout this interview; indeed, beautifully simple are the images in his work Assembly, a series of photographs of schoolgirls roaming around together in striking natural landscapes. Despite the scenic settings and delicate atmopshere, however, there’s a strangely mysterious feel to Assembly: who are these girls? Where are they going?
