Soon to Be Gone — Fragments of Daily Life in Lithuania’s Disappearing Rural Villages
For today’s Cameo we’re having 32 year-old Lithuanian photographer Tadas Kazakevicius. Tadas shares with us images from his long-term project Soon to Be Gone, a subjective reportage that captures daily life in the rural villages of Lithuania, which are slowly disappearing as more and more people choose to migrate to more urbanized areas.
Ciao Tadas, thank you for this interview. How are you?
I’m very well and happy to be answering these questions.
What is photography for you?
One of my great loves and passions and an excuse to start a conversation with strangers.
What is Soon to Be Gone about?
Soon to Be Gone is a visual narrative of my travels around Lithuania and proving my point that there’s still a lot to be photographed. At its core, it’s about the migration from the Lithuanian countryside and the disappearance of our rural villages, that however I choose to show it in a positive way.
Where can you be found online?
There’s a dedicated platform for Soon to Be Gone, and I can also be found at my website.
