A Common Story — Kostas Kapsianis Captures the Broken Dreams of Those Living in the Countryside

For today’s Cameo we’re having 53 year-old Greek photographer Kostas Kapsianis sharing with us A Common Story, a series made on the road across Greece‘s countryside that mixes landscape photographs with environmental portraits. See here for all the other photographers who previously made a cameo in FotoRoom.
Ciao Kostas, how are you?
I’m very good, and thank you for the invitation.
What is photography for you?
Photography allows to formulate a comment or perpetuate a moment, to narrate a story or perhaps our own identities. It is a language emerging from a dialogue with ourselves.
What is A Common Story about?
A few years ago I embarked on a road trip through the Greek countryside without a specific idea of what I wanted to take pictures of. As I traveled on and heard the stories of the people who live in these rural areas, about the hardships of their daily lives and their dreams of living in a big city, I was reminded of similar stories my father, an economic refugee, would tell me. Dreams, hopes, fears and longing are the elements of a “common story” that repeats itself over time.
Where can you be found online?
This is my website, and I’m on Tumblr.
