Enter #FotoRoomOPEN and Have Your Work Represented Internationally by OSTKREUZ
On 9 November 1989, the world cheered at the fall of the Berlin Wall, an epoch-making event that symbolized the end of the Cold War. The following year in Berlin, in that historical point in space and time, a photo agency was born that was going to become Germany’s most successful. We’re delighted to welcome that agency, OSTKREUZ, as the juror of the new #FotoRoomOPEN edition: OSTKREUZ will pick the best submitted series and work with the author to represent it internationally. Read on for all the details, submit, and good luck!
The Juror — OSTKREUZ Agency
Named after Berlin’s busiest interchange station, the OSTKREUZ agency was founded in 1990 by seven photographers who had the model of Magnum Photos in mind: today, OSTKREUZ is Germany’s top photographers-run agency with a core base of 22 award-winning members—the agency also represents and sells works by non-members—and a long list of regular clients, including Der Spiegel, Stern, Rolling Stone, ZEIT Magazin, Monocle, GEO and Focus.
The Opportunity — Have your work represented by OSTKREUZ
As the jurors of this new #FotoRoomOPEN edition, OSTKREUZ have offered to choose one of the submitted series and represent it on the international editorial market. They are also open to the idea of initiating a long-lasting collaboration with the winner, and therefore to the possibility of representing his/her future works as well.
Who can participate, and in what categories
Only FotoRoom members can enter #FotoRoomOPEN | OSTKREUZ Edition. Remember: signing up gives you access to not just one but all #FotoRoomOPEN calls that run while you’re a member. Sign up today!
Members can enter in two categories:
— Single Image (open to both Amateur and Pro members);
— Series (open to Pro members only).
Important notes (read this!)
The #FotoRoomOPEN calls have no theme: you’re free to submit any work regardless of subject, style or approach. Anything goes!
Please note that, as always, only the winner of the Series category is eligible for the opportunity offered by OSTKREUZ. In the circumstance that the OSTKREUZ team, at their exclusive discretion, did not deem any of the applications a good fit for their agency, the “prize” will remain unassigned.
The winning entries in both the Single Image and Series category, and possibly a selection of shortlisted submissions as well, will be published on FotoRoom.
Submission Guidelines
To enter the Single Image category, please send a maximum of 3 pictures.
To enter the Series category, please send a maximum of 10 pictures from the same project. It’s currently not possible for Pro members to submit more than one series, but they can submit in both the Single Image and Series category.
Images must be sent via WeTransfer to calls@fotoroom.co in one PDF document per submission (so, if you’re submitting for both the Single Images and Series categories, you should create two separate documents).
Each PDF must include the following information about you:
1. Your full name and current location
2. A short text, introduction or project statement.
3. A link to your portfolio website (if you have one)
4. An email address we can use if we need to get in contact
5. The email address you used to sign up as a FotoRoom member (in case it’s different from the contact email).
Copyright and Terms of Use
All submitted images must be in the sole ownership of the entrant and not infringe on the copyright of any other party; full ownership of the copyright for every submitted image remains with its author.
By submitting your images to #FotoRoomOPEN | OSTKREUZ Edition you grant FotoRoom the possibility to use the submitted images—properly credited—on its website and social media with the exclusive purpose of promoting your work and the FotoRoom platform.
The Deadline
#FotoRoomOPEN | OSTKREUZ Edition closes next 15 January 2018 at midnight (Central European Time). Winners will be announced in early February 2018.
