In 2010, Francois Cavelier was based in Tokyo. What he noticed in those days is how the night lights in some of Tokyo’s areas were not the hard, artificial lights to be found in other metropolises “which make you feel insecure or under pressure.” Rather, the light here was softer, more natural; it reminded him of the light he would find in the countryside.
